Eurocopter and PT. Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) sign a partnership agreement for the manufacturing of Super Puma MKII helicopter airframes

Eurocopter and PTDI sign a cooperation agreement which aims to set up a local assembly line to manufacture airframes for Super Puma MKII helicopters.

In the framework of this agreement, a series of training programs will take place between the 2 parties for the first 3 years, including the permanent posting of an Eurocopter team in Bandung for technical assistance and exchange of technological know-how.

This contract is worth US$ 42 Millions over a period of at least 10 years, with operations of serial production starting in 2011. This cooperation agreement is proof of Eurocopter’s confidence in PTDI as an important partner in the country with the necessary industrial competencies.

Indeed, PTDI is not new in this line – the company employs 3800 employees today and has a long experience in aerospace business for the manufacturing of aircraft parts and components in Asia.

The partnership with Eurocopter began in 1976, with the licensed manufacturing of 118 BO 105 helicopters. This first joint cooperation was followed in the 1980s by a full licensed production of 11 Puma SA330 and 19 Super Puma AS332 helicopters.

For PTDI, this agreement is yet another recognition of its competencies in the global arena of aerostructural business.

As for Eurocopter, the reinforcement of this local partnership shows its readiness to support the Indonesian authorities and industry for their present and future operations.

PTDI initially is acknowledged in the global competition of aerostructure business when successfully proven by manufacturing of A380 IOFLE (Inboard Outboard Fixed Leading Edge), and most of all as the single source supplier. The success continues when Aerostructure of PTDI received the recognition as the best supplier for Spirit Aerosystem Europe.
