ATR today announced in Australia the opening of the new Sales Office in Sydney. This office will be headed by Laurent Nègre, Sales Director for the region with responsibility for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Nation Islands.

With the opening of this new office, ATR reinforces its strong presence in Asia Pacific, where Sales Offices in Beijing, Singapore and Bangkok already exist. ATR has also a support centre in Singapore and Bangalore, as well as a Training centre in Bangkok with two full flight simulators (FFS).

John Moore, ATR Senior Vice President Commercial, stated that: “We decided to open an office in Sydney in order to enhance our presence in the Pacific area and to be closer to our existing and future customers. ATR has a strong market share in the region and we foresee good potential for growth in the Australian regional market. Featuring the lowest operating costs for regional routes, the ATR family of aircraft represents the ideal choice for short-haul routes in Australia. ATR offers modern and highly reliable aircraft with jet-like comfort. Thanks to its unmatched operational flexibility, the ATR aircraft is an ideal choice for other applications such as charter operations to serve the mining industry and the cargo market”.

ATR is already well established in the South Pacific area with some 30 aircraft currently operated by Air Calédonie, Air Pacific, Air Tahiti, Mount Cook Airlines, Airlink of Papua New Guinea, Air Vanuatu and the government of French Polynesia.

ATR has sold 835 aircraft (401 ATR 42 and 434 ATR 72) since the beginning of the programme.

Since January 2005, ATR has booked orders for a total of 147 aircraft worldwide, thus confirming the recovery of the turboprop market and the success of its products. Asia-Pacific represents an important part of this success where 86 new aircraft have been sold since January 2005.
