The U.S. Navy Orders Two Additional Racal Instruments Jet Engine Test Instrumentation (JETI) Systems from EADS North America Defense Test and Services

EADS North America Defense Test and Services (formerly Racal Instruments, Inc.) today announced the receipt of a U.S. Navy contract for two additional aircraft carrier-based Jet Engine Test Instrumentation (JETI) systems, which brings the total systems provided to the U.S. Navy to 17. Of these, 11 are sea-based systems.
Each JETI includes a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) data acquisition and throttle control system that provides complete intermediate level engine test capability to the U.S. Navy. The EADS North America Defense Test and Services solution uses common hardware and test program sets for both land and sea-based installations. This common platform is capable of testing the F414, F404, F110, F405, F402 and J52 jet engines, as well as two auxiliary power units used on Navy aircraft.
“The Navy has shown great confidence in our ability to provide high quality and reliable systems in a timely fashion by ordering these systems outside of scheduled production programs,” stated Mike Rutledge, the Vice President and General Manager of the Engineering Solutions Business Unit of EADS North America Defense Test and Services. “The Navy came to us, because our systems are proven to meet the rigorous reliability and quality requirements of their engine test environments.”
The contract, valued at $1.58 million, was awarded by the U.S Navy’s Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Lakehurst, New Jersey.
