EF-18 Hornet

The EADS Military Air Systems site in Getafe is also responsible for depot inspections of the EF-18A Hornets in service with the Spanish Air Force. The extensive maintenance programme includes work on the engines and fuel supply systems, the installation of a new VOR/ILS unit and various repair tasks. In addition, an upgrade programme for the EF-18 Hornet is under way at this site.

After development work on the prototypes was completed, at the end of December 2003 the Spanish Air Force and EADS Military Air Systems signed a contract for the midlife upgrade of the F-18 aircraft. Over the course of the next four years, 65 aircraft will be equipped with new avionic, navigation and communication systems.
