Eurofighter series production is in full swing. In late 2000, final assembly of the German Eurofighters started in Manching. In Getafe, final assembly of the Spanish Eurofighter aircraft began in summer 2001. The highly modern infrastructure and production facilities guarantee top efficiency in final assembly. The first single-seater production Eurofighter – the third Instrumented Production Aircraft (IPA3) – took off in Manching in April 2002. In February 2003, the first production Eurofighter GT001 (German Twinseater) destined for the German Air Force completed its first flight. ST001 (ST = Spanish Twinseater), for the Spanish Air Force, followed a few days later at Getafe. 2003 already saw the handover of the first Eurofighter aircraft to the air forces of the partner nations. Since the spring of 2004, single-seater Eurofighters have been in service at the air wings of the four partner nations.
