SMART (EADS TEST & SERVICES)

The SMART (Standard Modular Avionics Repair and Test) system software and its associated tools (on-line documentation, database management, man-machine graphical interface (MMI)) were originally specified by ARINC to satisfy the following main objectives: modularity, portability and maintainability.

SMART was developed by EADS TEST & SERVICES to operate three fundamental user modes: test, repair and programme development.

SMART provides software tools such as:

  • ATLAS Editor, with syntactical analyser,
  • ATLAS 626-2 or ATLAS 716-95 (IEEE 716) compiler,
  • ATLAS linker, capable of linking ATLAS and non-ATLAS modules,
  • Test Executive with a debug mode.

Different TPS running conditions are also available:

  • Stop on failure,
  • Step by step execution,
  • Stop on entry point,
  • Statement-by-statement execution, etc.

PAWS is a fully integrated process that automates testing of any manufactured unit. It supports the development of Test Requirements Documents (TRDs) and the development, documentation and execution of ATLAS test programmes.
