EADS as a Modern Employer

Family and Career @ EADS

Women in Technical Jobs
Industrial and technical challenges are at the heart of our company. Our employees are the driving force which make these challenges come true.
Industrial companies have traditionally had lower quotas of women, due to the technical nature of the work involved and the tough work environment. However, women in technical jobs are now real pioneers, challenging the complexity of their working environment through their competence, skill and perseverance.
We play a very active role in universities and schools in promoting technical careers among young girls.

Encouraging women and helping them reconcile their professional and private lives - EADS has made this one of its key success factors.

Events
100 femmes at Le Bourget and ILA 2004
Much was achieved since the official presentation of our HR policy promoting diversity management. ILA 2004 was therefore the perfect occasion to assess the results of what we had accomplished. It was once again an opportunity to bring together prominent women from EADS and the aerospace industry, and to let them say what they felt about issues such as :

  • female employment in the aerospace industry and its attractiveness
  • career opportunities
  • training
  • compatibility of family and career

Girls Day
Girls Day, this German initiative which aims at promoting technical careers and jobs among young girls is always given strong support at EADS locations. EADS opens its doors to girls, hoping that they will take engineering to heart. Most participate in discussions with engineers and researchers, and follow them during their working day. This enables our young visitors to discover the complexity and high-technology involved in our products and even get hands-on experience of research and of the manufacturing process.
Letting them discover engineering “from the inside” is, we believe, the best way to raise enthusiasm among girls. Just have a look at the picture below.
