METEOR on EurofighterMETEOR is the next generation Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile - BVRAAM. It will engage air targets autonomously - whether fighters, bombers, transport aircraft or cruise missiles - by using its active radar seeker by day or night and in all weather or dense electronic warfare environments. Meteor's ramjet propulsion system will ensure a range in excess of 100 km and a speed of more than Mach 4. Even when launched from extreme stand-off ranges, the missile will have the energy in the end game to defeat fast, manoeuvring targets. The Meteor system provides interoperability between all of Europe's major air forces. This missile is developed under the prime contractor ship of MBDA and the Meteor team comprising Europe's leading guided weapons companies. METEOR was ordered in 2002 by the UK Ministry of Defence and five other European nations - France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden - to meet their future Air-to-Air requirements.

MICA on Mirage 2000The MICA - Missile d'Interception, de Combat et d'Autodefense or Dogfight/Self-Defence/Interception Missile - is the first multi-target multi-mission air-to-air missile capable of interception missions beyond visual range and close up dogfight combat. It is multi-target since it is fully autonomous after firing so that the pilot can engage several targets simultaneously, while maintaining maximum efficiency within an electronic warfare environment and with saturation jamming. These elements give it a very good cost/efficiency ratio compared with existing specialized missiles. The MICA can be guided either by an active radar electromagnetic homing head - MICA RF - Radio Frequency - or by an infrared imaging homing head - MICA IR.

The MISTRAL ATAM is a air-to-air system for helicopters based on the MISTRAL 2 missile. The Mistral is a Fire and Forget air defence missile designed for all services, capable of engaging rapidly crossing or manoeuvring targets up to distances of 6.5 km. The system can be easily integrated on any type of helicopter, be they attack, liaison or transport helicopters. It provides these helicopters with a self-defence capability, and it also allows them to carry out escort missions for other helicopters, as part of air mobile forces, land convoys over long distances, and long-range fast projection of air defence resources. The missile is designed to penetrate dense air defences in very low level terrain-following flight, deployable night and day and in adverse weather conditions, is highly accurate jam-resistant navigation and has a high survivability of both missile and platform due to stand-off range, missile flight characteristics and autonomous navigation.Taurus KEPD 350 In service with the German Air Force on its Tornado IDS aircraft (also intended for its Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft). Its modular design makes it adaptable to a variety of other aircraft. Integration activities for F-18, GRIPEN, AP-3C and transport aircraft are in preparation. ALARM on TornadoThe Air Launched Anti-Radiation Missile - ALARM - is designed to destroy or suppress the use of enemy ground-based air-defence radar systems. Combinations of between two and seven missiles can be carried on each aircraft. Since its original entry into service, radars have become increasingly more sophisticated in their ability to avoid detection and attack by anti-radiation weapons such as ALARM; consequently, the missile has been upgraded and the improved capability ALARM has entered service with the RAF's Tornado squadrons. The ALARM operates by homing onto the radar energy being emitted by the target radar in several ways. If the target is active and emitting radiation when the missile is launched, the ALARM will fly direct to the target. If the targeted radar is quiet when the missile is launched, the ALARM will fly to a pre-set point above the target and loiter under a parachute in the area until the radar switches on. It will then eject the parachute and home onto the target. In Area Suppression mode the missile can be fired in the direction of radars whose positions are unknown and it will engage the highest priority target for attack. In Direct mode the missile is pre-programmed with threat radars and executes a box-search for them after launch, homing onto the highest priority target. The missile can be pre-loaded with a prioritised file of hostile radars, for which it will search after launch.

Spirale - The Spirale decoying system is totally integrated to the Mirage 2000 ICMS (Integrated CounterMeasure System ), with decoy types and sequences related to the threats. Completely internal, it leaves the hard points free and preserves the fighter aircraft's manoeuvrability and mission range. An extra capacity of decoys can be obtained with the internal adjunction of the Eclair-M dispenser. The missile detection function can be added by using the DDM missile detector.
