The EADS Business Unit Systems & Defence Electronics at the Paris Airshow 2001 in Le Bourget

Astrium at the Paris Air Show At this year's Paris Air Show, Astrium will be showcasing its talents at the EADS pavilion (No. 28), on its own 265-square meter stand. All companies in the EADS group will be showcased in the EADS pavilion, which is a large circular structure right outside the rotunda part of Hall 2.
Astrium's slogan for this year's Paris Air Show is "All the Space you Need". And Europe's leading space company will indeed be showing a broad range of products and services, covering a number of different areas:

Defense business will spotlight military observation, using optical, infrared and very-high-resolution radars, with Helios 2 and Sarlupe models.

In the military satcom field, Paradigm Secure Communications is introducing a new approach, based on custom-tailored user services, as well as on-demand capacity from hardened satellites. Astrium also offers a complete range of military terminals.

The Skynet 5 satellite and a Scot terminal will also be on display.

Astrium is the European leader in Earth observation and Number 2 worldwide, with complete design and production capabilities for systems, platforms, instruments and ground segments. Our stand will feature the Envisat environmental monitoring satellite, to be launched in October, the Spot 5 remote sensing satellite, slated for launch early next year, and Metop, Europe's first low-orbit weather satellite, which will provide both medium and long-term forecasts.

Astrium also has unrivaled experience in scientific missions, based on roles in over 40 scientific satellites. Showcased here will be the Rosetta and Mars Express missions.
With a 50% stake in Galileo Industrie, Astrium will play a major role in the design and development of Galileo, Europe's planned satellite navigation system, which will enter service in 2008.
Also on display will be new developments in the Eurostar 3000+ family of satellite platforms, designed to handle even the most demanding telecom missions. Several key satellites using this platform will be presented: Intelsat 10, Inmarsat 4, Hot Bird 7 and Galileo.
Astrium is developing the new cryogenic upper stage for the upgraded Ariane 5 Evolution launcher, to be powered by the Vinci cryogenic engine. Astrium is also the lead European partner in the International Space Station, as prime contractor on behalf of the European Space Agency for the Columbus module. It is also a major partner in the Automated Transfer Vehicle, or ATV, that will ferry supplies to the ISS. Models of the International Space Station, the ATV, and the Vulcain, Vinci and Eurockot engines will all be on display during the show.
