Operators rank ATR the leader in regional aircraft

Toulouse, 27  November  2003

Monthly magazine « Airfinance Journal » has published the results of its annual Investors’ and Operators’ Poll in its October issue.

In the regional aircraft’s category, operators ranked the ATR family aircraft in the first two positions, the ATR 42-300 and the ATR 72-500, respectively. The ATR 42-500 is ranked in the fourth position. Furthermore, the ATR 42-300 and the ATR 72-500 are also ranked in the ninth and the tenth position within the top 10 aircraft, all models taken into account.

This survey ranks aircraft models on the basis of five criteria : operational success, investor appeal, remarketing potential, residual value and value for money.

According to « Airfinance Journal »: « The big surprise in the regional category is the strong showing of ATR aircraft. While few voters gave them high marks for ease of finance, airlines like operating them (…) »

The ATR 72-500’s value for money is also pointed out in this poll.

Since the beginning of the programme, ATR has delivered 658 aircraft and 115 operators are currently operating ATR aircraft worldwide.

ATR is an equal partnership between EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) and Finmeccanica/Alenia Aeronautica and is the world leader in the 50 to 70 seat turboprop market.
