The Executive Committee of EADS has appointed Boris L. Zaïtra to head up the Mergers & Acquisitions team.
In line with the group’s strategic orientations, the Mergers & Acquisitions team is responsible for implementing the group’s industrial and international development, through operating agreements, investments or sales. The team’s activity involves designing, monitoring, coordinating and leading all merger and acquisition projects in EADS. It supports the divisions, the group’s local entities, and works closely with the strategy department, EADS International and the Global Industrial Development department (GID). Boris L. Zaïtra will report to Jean-Paul Gut, Chief Operating Officer for Marketing, Strategy and Global Development.
Since November 2005, Boris L. Zaïtra has been Vice President in the Mergers & Acquisitions team. He has particularly played a key role in the still ongoing acquisition of 20% of Airbus from BAE Systems.
Boris L. Zaïtra studied at the Ecole Polytechnique and, from 1995 to 1999, he worked for JP Morgan in Mergers & Acquisitions in London, in particular in the Industry and Energy sectors. He took part in the Exxon/Mobil and Total/Petrofina mergers, as well as in the privatisation of Thomson. He then moved to the private equity sector, joining the Duke Street Capital investment fund in London, then in Paris, where he became Partner. During this period, Boris gained substantial experience in international negotiations, industrial mergers, as well as financial and legal structures across different sectors.
EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2005, EADS generated revenues of € 34.2 billion and employed a workforce of about 113,000. The EADS Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the world's largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and the joint venture MBDA, the international leader in missile systems. EADS is the major partner in the Eurofighter consortium, is the prime contractor for the Ariane launcher, develops the A400M military transport aircraft and is the largest industrial partner for the European satellite navigation system Galileo.
