EADS Implements a Shared Service for Information Management

  • Group wide integration and acceleration of IT support
  • Annual cost savings of more than 20 percent projected

Amsterdam, 04 June 2007

EADS has decided to implement a group wide Information Management Shared Service and Delivery organisation. The objectives of the new service are to integrate development, operation and support of all EADS Information Technology infrastructure and shared applications. The new approach will create significant cost savings of more than 20 percent per year through improved efficiency, sourcing and demand management.

The decision is part of an EADS strategy to further streamline and integrate EADS group structure. A similar approach has already been succesfully implemented within the EADS joint single HR platform and the EADS payroll services. The new service is mandatory to meet current and future business needs for efficiency, improved IT performance and integration support. It will also contribute to the Airbus Power8 program.

The concept will be implemented as an internal solution without any forced layoffs and will only have moderate social impacts, mainly caused by the need to relocate a very limited number of employees. National security concerns will be taken into due account and the national authorities will be consulted in different steps of the implementation process.

EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. In 2006, EADS generated revenues of € 39.4 billion and employed a workforce of about 116,000. The Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the world's largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and EADS Astrium, the European leader in space programmes from Ariane to Galileo. EADS is the major partner in the Eurofighter consortium, develops the A400M military transport aircraft, and holds a stake in the joint venture MBDA, the international leader in missile systems.
