EADS Defence & Security delivers system demonstrator for Joint ISR to the Bundeswehr

  • A milestone on the way to network enhanced capabilities
  • Contract is worth € 23 million

EADS Defence & Security (DS) has received an order from the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) to develop a system demonstrator for joint intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance network (Joint ISR). The contract is worth € 23 million and is to be completed by mid-2011.

"We are proud, to have the opportunity to deliver the system demonstrator to the Bundeswehr, since it is a milestone for our customer on its way towards acquiring network enhanced capabilities NEC", states Franz Peraus, CEO of Mission Systems and Solutions, an integrated Line of Business of DS.

In future, the deployment and command of the German Armed Forces in network centric operations is to be supported by a joint, interoperable communications and information network that includes all resources for ISR in a common business process. The integration of Joint ISR into the architecture of this network is vital for information superiority and decision dominance. The technological basis will be a service-oriented architecture (SOA) with integrated advanced functionalities that ensure the interoperability of forces from the technical to the semantic level.
