Eurocopter and Spanish Ministry of the Interior Sign Contract for 12 EC135s to Be Assembled in Albacete

Albacete - Eurocopter and the Spanish Ministry of the Interior have signed a contract for the purchase of twelve EC135 P2i helicopters. Spain's National Police Force will operate six of the new aircraft for law enforcement missions, while the remaining six will join the current fleet of the Spanish Guardia Civil. One of this latter group of helicopters will be configured for mountain rescue missions.

The business also maintained a stable booking value over the last few years in Asia to achieve €504 million in 2009. Eurocopter meets 2009 Turnover and Delivery Objectives - Civil Orders decrease while military Orders increase

Paris - Eurocopter, the world’s leading helicopter manufacturer, met its business and delivery objectives for 2009 and stabilised its turnover at the level of its record year, 2008. The world economic crisis caused a sharp order decline in the civil market for light helicopters. However, governmental orders have over-compensated in value the drop in commercial unit sales, leading to the second-best result of order intakes in Eurocopter’s history. In line with Eurocopter’s roadmap, the Support and Services business was also strengthened with the signature of a number of significant contracts.

MBDA To Make More Extensive Use Of Composite Materials In Missiles

MBDA has launched the CRISTAL project which aims to further extend the maturity level of the composite material moulding technology from the Carbone Forgé company, as required in order to be able to use it in aeronautical and defence applications. The patented technology should allow automated production of complex shapes to be achieved, using long-fibre and high-performance materials. The objective is to reduce the cost of these parts by 40%, compared to the conventional composite technologies of the layup + autoclave type, and to cover applications in which most of the parts are still made of metal.

Marignane - Helicópteros do Brasil S.A.-Helibras, Eurocopter subsidiary in Brazil, signed on the 24th of December 2009 a contract to upgrade 34 AS365K Panther helicopters of the Brazilian Army Aviation. This is the largest service contract signed by the Brazilian subsidiary in more than 30 years of presence in the country. This Programme will lead to a new generation of Panther helicopters that benefit from the last technical evolutions developed by Eurocopter.
