FiReControl

FiReControl is one of the key building blocks in improving the resilience of UK’s Critical National Infrastructure. EADS is working in partnership with the Department of Communities and Local Government to provide a common national response capability to England’s Fire and Rescue Services (FRS).

Instead of forty-six unlinked local control rooms, ameshed network of nine Regional Control Centres (RCCs) will probide secure, resilient Command and Control infrastructure. This will enable, for the first time, the FRS to have a national view of resources, to plan responses and to co-ordinate mobilisation accordingly. The programme is as much about business transformation as technology and is designeed to ensure a seamless transition to a common best-practice delivery of FRS capabilities to the public. The system, which is scheduled to be operational before the 2012 London Olympics, will provide unprecedented capability to respond to and recover from large-scale incidents such as industrial accidents, terrorist attacks and environmental disasters, offering greater protection to both fire fighters and the public.
