Air Traffic Alliance creates a single company

The Air Traffic Alliance, a grouping of EADS, AIRBUS and THALES, founded in July 2002, has today announced at the Paris Air Show the creation of the Air Traffic Alliance G.I.E. ("Groupement d'interet économique"), transforming their experienced team into a single company.
The new company will strengthen the pursuit of the common objectives of the founding members to address the needs of airlines, airports and Air Navigation Services Providers for a seamless and globally interoperable air transport system. It capitalises on the integration of the Ieading aircraft, avionics, ground ATM and satellite capabilities of its founding members into a single approach.
The new structure is headed by an Executive Committee of four members under the presidency of Lionnel Wonneberger, complemented by the Vice President Marketing and Operations, Christian Dumas, the Vice President Strategy, Soeren Fischer, and the Executive Director Industrial Partnerships, Jean-Claude Richard.
"The creation of an integrated management team shows our clear commitment to the Air Traffic Alliance's objectives and the urgent need to address the challenges in the field of air transport system modernisation and harmonisation", said Jean-Louis Gergorin, Executive Vice President Strategic Coordination of EADS.
"Now that the Air Traffic Alliance has established concrete proposals and submitted first offers such as those within the 6th Framework Programme, an integrated structure wiIl allow for a much more efficient coordination and management of such programmes." added John Hughes, CEO of Thales Aerospace.

The Air Traffic Alliance is a grouping of EADS, Airbus and Thales, combining leading industry forces to accelerate the evolution of ATM Systems through the integration of air, ground and space expertise. The Alliance is working to bring mutual benefits to passengers, airspace users, air traffic service providers and airports, while improving safety and security in a more efficient air transport system.
