Delivery of a CASA C-212 PATRULLERO aircraft to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food

The General Secretariat for Maritime Fishing of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food (M.A.P.A.), has received a new CASA C-212 PATRULLERO aircraft.

The Chairman and CEO of EADS CASA, Alberto Fernández, has delivered the aircraft today at the EADS CASA factory in Getafe to the Minister of Agriculture, Fishing and Food, Miguel Arias Cañete. This event was attended by the General Manager of Fishing Resources, Arturo Abelló Díez del Corral, General Secretary of Maritime Fishing, Samuel Juárez Casado, and the General Manager, Subdepartment of fishing Inspection, José Luís Puig.

This aircraft is the second CASA C-212 Patrullero in service for inspection, surveillance and support to the Spanish fishing fleet, within the Spanish territorial waters and international fishing-grounds such as the Gran Sol area to the north or the Canary Islands area to the south of the peninsula.

Like its predecessor, this CASA C-212 will be operated by TRAGSA, the company linked to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food through its activities in the rural and environmental fields, among others. Maintenance of the two aircraft is carried out by EADS CASA.

The aircraft is fitted with two auxiliary fuel tanks under the wing, which allow to undertake up to eight patrolling hours and cover a distance longer than 1,000 NM.The avionics suit has a redundant Flight Management System (FMS) with double GPS, a four-screen Electronic Flight Instrumentation System (EFIS) and a Integrated Engine Data System (IEDS).

It is also equipped with a 360º coverage Search Radar and an electro-optical turret fitted with a FLIR and TV camera for night/day vision, a data and voice transmission equipment via INMARSAT and a photographic camera capable of recording position data and time.

The first CASA C-212 aircraft of the General Secretariat for Maritime Fishing, also a Maritime Patrol version, has already carried out 1,200 fight hours. At present, nearly 50 CASA C-212 aircraft perform surveillance and maritime patrol missions all over the world.
