EFW receives LBA-STC for A300-600 modificationDresden, 10 September 2002 Today, Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), the core center for Airbus passenger to freighter conversion within EADS, has obtained its first own Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for modification of the main deck cargo compartment (MDCC) of Airbus series freighter A300C4-605R Variant F.
The STC was issued today by German Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) after EFW’s successful performance of the process for approved design organisation. On this basis, EADS EFW is now in the position to design and certify major modifications on Airbus A300/A310 aircraft and to obtain STCs for these modifications. Today, the A300C4-605R Variant F, MSN 758, an Airbus production freighter aircraft, was handed over to owner debis AirFinance, based in Schiphol/The Netherlands. The second freighter, MSN 755, is already under modification and will be delivered to debis AirFinance by the end of this month. On both aircraft, the formerly installed single row cargo loading system was replaced by a newly designed side-by-side system, provided by US-based manufacturer AAR Cargo Systems. The side-by-side cargo loading system offers a multiple choice solution and gives the cargo operator a higher flexibility by choosing between different cargo loading configurations and enables him to load the aircraft with a higher cargo volume. The issue of the LBA-STC took place on schedule. Dresden, September 10, 2002
