Airbus Takes Its Smallest And Largest Aircraft To ILA 2002Toulouse, 06 May 2002 Airbus is attending this year's ILA 2002 show in Berlin, Germany, from 6 to 12 May with an exhibit highlighting the core values of comfort, innovation and commonality which have made its product line the preferred choice of airlines worldwide. Two of the latest Airbus aircraft, the 107-seat A318 and the 380-seat A340-600, will participate daily in the flying displays and also be visible on the ground throughout the show. This will be the first public display of the A318, the latest and smallest model of the A320 Family, which is currently pursuing its certification campaign. The long range A340-600, the largest Airbus aircraft currently flying, has just completed two weeks of highly successful route-proving and is expected to obtain certification by the end of the month. The first delivery to launch airline Virgin Atlantic Airways is scheduled for this summer. Airbus will be present on the EADS stand, featuring 1/20th models of the A380, the A340-600, the A330-200, the A321 and the A318. Visitors can also see 1/100th models of the complete Airbus aircraft family and watch video displays of the different Airbus aircraft families on three large plasma screens. On Monday 6 May, at 1 p.m., Airbus will hold a press conference in the ILA Press Centre, Hall 4, Press Conference Room A. Airbus comes to ILA following another successful year in 2001, which saw its integration as a single company. Indeed, Airbus won 375 firm orders, worth a record US$ 44.7 billion, representing 53 per cent of the market in terms of aircraft units and 61 per cent in value terms and obtained, for the second time in three years, a larger share than its competitor in both quantitative and value terms.
