EADS CRC Munich and TTTech Sign ContractAirbus Germany Joins TTA-Group Munich/Vienna, le 03 mars 2003 The EADS Corporate Research Center (CRC) of EADS, a major partner in the Eurofighter Program, has placed an order for rapid prototyping equipment and software development tools to TTTech Computertechnik AG, Vienna, Austria. The two companies signed this first contract at the end of 2002. Further collaboration is under discussion regarding future research and commercial projects. In 2002 Airbus Germany was one of the founding members of the TTA-Group cross-industry consortium to establish the TTP® (Time-Triggered Protocol) communication protocol as a standard for the industry. TTP has already been selected by Nord-Micro for use in the cabin pressure control system of the Airbus A380. The contract between EADS and TTTech represents an important step towards long-term cooperation on a much larger scale. The agreement is also subject to the planned Eurofighter offset program which is scheduled to run over 15 years. During this period EADS and Airbus plan to develop several military and commercial products in which there will be numerous applications for TTP. In order to establish TTP as a communication standard in the aerospace and automotive industry, Airbus Germany was founding member of the TTA-Group, the open industry consortium for time-triggered systems, in 2002. “With its TTA-Group membership, Airbus Germany has given the European aircraft industry a strong signal of its commitment to TTP. This establishes the preferred direction for the Airbus supplier community in terms of dependable, safety-critical and fault-tolerant communication systems,” observed Andreas Eckel, TTTech Business Development Manager. As one of the leading communication protocols today, TTP is ideally suited for safety-critical fly-by-wire applications in the aerospace industry, and integrated vehicle control and driver assistance systems for the automotive industry. “TTTech’s core technology has a tremendous potential for future applications in the EADS business units and for their suppliers,” stated Stefan Moser, Vice President and Offset Manager of EADS Military Aircraft, responsible for the Eurofighter offset program. The anticipated offset program for Eurofighter in Austria will thus offer TTTech a significant business potential with EADS and their Eurofighter partners.
