In 1967, Dr. Ninke, graduate lawyer, started his professional career in aerospace technology at the former Bölkow KG in Ottobrunn. Klaus Ninke is one of the cofounders of EurasSpace which has been under his management from the very beginning. In 1998, the Technical University of Harbin awarded the title of "Advisory Professor" to Dr. Ninke to honour the German-Chinese collaboration in the field of space technology.

EurasSpace was set up in 1994. It is a joint venture owned on a fifty-fifty basis by EADS-Astrium and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The company's successful 'In-Orbit' delivery of the first European-built communications satellite Sinosat-1 to the operator Sinosatcom (Beijing) was one of the flagship activities. Early this year EurasSpace signed a contract to deliver the world´s largest antenna measuring range to China.

EADS-Astrium is wholly owned by the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company EADS. In 2002, EADS-Astrium had a turnover of approximately EUR1.2 billion and 7,200 employees in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Spain. EADS-Astrium's satellite activities cover civil and military telecommunications and Earth observation systems, navigation and science programmes, and spacecraft avionics and equipment.
