The Italian regional carrier Air Dolomiti, member of Lufthansa Regional and owned by Lufthansa Group, took delivery of its seventh ATR 72-500 aircraft on March 19th, in Toulouse.
This aircraft, delivered with a 64-seat configuration, is the second of three ATR 72-500s ordered end of 2001.
With this delivery the long-standing ATR operator (since 1993) will bring its ATR fleet up to 16 aircraft (7 ATR 72-500s and 9 ATR 42-500s), operated under Lufthansa LH code from 28 March onwards. This new generation ATR 72-500 will feed the Lufthansa hubs (Munich and Frankfurt) from all Italian served cities and will be operating on its inter-regional network.
Since the beginning of the programme, ATR has delivered 662 aircraft (372 ATR 42 and 290 ATR 72). In Europe, 49 operators currently operate 255 ATRs.
Toulouse-based ATR is the world leader in the 50 to 70-seat turboprop market. ATR is an equal partnership between Alenia Aeronautica and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
