Airlinair acquires 5 ATR 42-500 aircraft

Toulouse, 25 March 2004

ATR (Avions de Transport Régional) signed 5-year operating lease contracts for 5 second-hand ATR 42-500 aircraft with the French regional airline Airlinair.

The five aircraft are scheduled to be delivered by the end of the summer season 2004.

Paolo Revelli-Beaumont, Senior Vice President Commercial of ATR, is “proud of this new proof of confidence from Airlinair, one of our customers since 1999, and whose entire fleet consists of ATRs. Moreover, this order confirms Air France’s high interest in the new generation ATR aircraft.”

Airlinair, headquartered in Orly, is serving a large number of towns in France from Paris. Airlinair also operates the highest number of ATRs in France and is second in Europe. This order will allow the regional airline to increase its current fleet of 17 ATRs (11 ATR 42s and 6 ATR 72s). These new generation aircraft will be operated mainly on Air France’s domestic regional network.

“ATR is a key player in the regional transport market and we believe that the ATR 42-500s are particularly well-adapted to the French regional market. These aircraft will provide our passengers with a jet-like comfort, meeting the expectations of Air France’s customers”, Lionel Guérin, Chairman of Airlinair declares.

With 16 used aircraft already placed since the beginning of 2004, ATR posts a higher level of activity compared to the same period in 2003.

Toulouse-based ATR is the world leader in the 50 to 70-seat turboprop market. ATR is an equal partnership between Alenia Aeronautica and EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company).
