SAMOC: Integrated Air Defence Systems

ILA/Berlin, 10 May 2004

As the Armed Forces move into the new field of combat, they are expecting a systems-of-systems solutions that enables speed of command, efficiency and flexibility. What is needed is a cost effective integrated air defence system that can counter the increasing threat of low level airborne threats, including target drones, cruise missiles, and low altitude attack helicopters.

EADS has created the system behind the system in SAMOC (Surface-to-air missile operations centre), which provides planning, tasking and evaluating for military operations and can be linked up with tactical data system for real-time results. It can also rank data into potential threat categories, while still being able to distinguish between faulty data and high-quality results. It can also provide and distribute detailed information to different decision making sources in real-time, ensuring fast and accurate data for complete and quick decisions.

The legacy system from EADS has already proven itself in the ranks of the German Luftwaffe and has established a contract at the beginning of this year for series production within Germany. SAMOC has been in service since 1999 and continues to meet and satisfy its customer’s needs. Another added advantage of EADS’ legacy system technology is its ability to stage joint, multi national missions.
