EADS welcomes changes in Eurofighter GmbH

Amsterdam, 23  February  2004

EADS welcomes the decision of the three Eurofighter Partner Companies (Alenia, BAE SYSTEMS, and EADS) to significantly strengthen the role and responsibilities of Eurofighter GmbH, as well as the appointment of Aloysius Rauen as the new CEO of Eurofighter GmbH effective 1 May 2004.

Commenting the changes, Tom Enders, Head of EADS Defence and Security Division, emphasized the importance of this decision: The Eurofighter programme is on a successful path, but we need to further improve programme efficiency, product performance and economic benefit to both customers and shareholders. We are now giving Eurofighter GmbH the means to do so. And, of course, we need the best man for this new and challenging job. Everybody agreed that this man is Aloysius Rauen. We at EADS will give him every support he needs to drive a great product towards further successes.”

The organisational changes mark a significant step forward for Eurofighter GmbH in the natural evolution towards a full prime contractorship with all the necessary authorities and responsibilities such status entails across all disciplines of the company, including technical, commercial, production, supply chain management and export activities

Aloysius Rauen, currently head of EADS Military Aircraft, has a long experience in international cooperation and has managed the German contribution to Eurofighter since the mid 90s.

EADS is a global leader in aerospace, defence and releated services. In 2002, EADS generated revenues of € 29.9 billion and employed a workforce of more than 100,000. The EADS Group includes the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the world's largest helicopter supplier Eurocopter and the joint venture MBDA, the second largest missile producer in the global market. EADS is the major partner in the Eurofighter consortium, the prime contractor for the Ariane launcher, develops the A400M military transport aircraft and is the largest industrial partner for the European satellite navigation system Galileo.
