EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions is selected as a Top Simulation Company by Military Training Technology magazine

San Antonio, Texas, 19  August  2008

EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions, Inc. has been recognized as one of the industry’s top simulation companies in the 7th Annual MT2 Top Simulation Companies ranking by Military Training Technology magazine (MT2).

The MT2 Top Simulation Companies listing acknowledges companies that have made a significant impact in the military training industry during the current fiscal year in sectors that include flight simulation, distributed learning, visual systems, embedded training, targets and ranges, database modeling and other training components.

Selection of the awardees was made by the Military Training Technology magazine’s editorial board and a panel of independent experts. Companies were recognized based on various criteria that included total military sales, end-user feedback, innovations and need for training solutions. Publication of the ranking will be included in the September 11, 2008 issue of Military Training Technology magazine.

The mission of EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions is to provide immediate and long-term quality information assurance and secure network solutions for commercial and government organizations. These solutions assure the availability, authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality of information, and protection of information technology resources.

Among the company’s achievements is the design, engineering and installation of the Simulator Training Exercise (SIMTEX) Network, which encompasses all U.S. Air Force Network Control Functions. The SIMTEX Network Simulators are in place to support a training environment, affording network professionals the opportunity to practice their classroom lessons in a realistic environment that does not impact an operational network.

Based on a "flight simulator" concept, the SIMTEX Network provides crew forces the "look and feel" of the same computer network environment they manage and defend day-to-day. Like aircraft flight simulators, the network simulators from EADS North America Defense Security and Systems Solutions are not a replication of fielded Air Force network equipment, but simulate the network and emulate the services of a typical Air Force base network environment.

Separated from the operational environment through a virtual private network, the SIMTEX Network provides a standard platform to conduct training, evaluate tactics, perform individual and crew standardization/evaluation, and test new or innovative network architecture enhancements.

This innovative network simulator provides training and exercise capabilities that expose cyberspace crew forces to various network situations, develop their technical skills, and identify innovative enhancements to computer network defense operational tactics, techniques, procedures, and architecture. They can experience or conduct aggressive activities to infiltrate, disrupt, obstruct, and destroy the integrity of a simulated computer network, or train on procedures and tactics to defend and protect the network against attacks.

Management can practice situational analysis, processes, coordination, communications and command and control. The results are used to identify additional training needs, policy improvements, tactics, and computer network technology upgrades.

The SIMTEX Network currently is used as the model by USSTRATCOM for its Joint Cyberspace Operations Range (JCOR) and Joint Service network defense exercises.
