APCF - Advanced Protein Crystallization Facility

The Space Station provides an unprecedented laboratory environment to answer a multitude of scientific questions in the fields of materials science, medicine, biology, and physics. The photo depicts a reaction chamber of the Protein Crystallization Facility APCF. The reaction chambers can be used in the APCF and CPCF (Advanced and Commercial Protein Crystallization Facilities) on the Space Station. Nowadays, protein crystal growth is a standard tool designed for the structural analysis of proteins and is indispensable for the modern development of medicines.
