EADS Astrium's 1.2-ton radar satellite TerraSAR-X was launched on 15 June 2007 and provides Earth observation data of unprecedented quality, with a resolution of up to one metre, for scientific and increasingly diversified commercial applications. TerraSAR-X is the first German radar satellite implemented under a Public-Private Partnership. Cooperation partners are the German space agency (DLR) and EADS Astrium. The DLR is responsible for the scientific use of the TerraSAR-X data, whereas commercial marketing is conducted exclusively by the geo-information service provider Infoterra, a wholly-owned EADS Astrium subsidiary.
