Cleanroom of Astrium with Intelsat 10-02 satellite. Launched by a Proton rocket on 16 June 2004, the EADS Astrium-built Intelsat 10-02 is the largest and most powerful satellite ever procured by Intelsat, the international telecommunications satellite operator. From its 359¡ E orbit location, Intelsat 10-02 provides a full range of services in Ku and C-band, for premium landmass coverage of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, Intelsat 10-02 provides coverage as far east as Asia (India) and as far west as South and North America. It features 70 C-band and 36 Ku-band transponders (measured in 36 MHz equivalent units), with a high level of cross-connectivity. The spacecraft's launch mass was 5,600kg, its solar array span is 45 metres and the spacecraft power at end of life is 11kW. The satellite will provide commercial services for a minimum of 13 years.
