The A350 XWB nose section comprises three main sub-assemblies: the cockpit plus upper and lower forward fuselage parts, which incorporate door one and the nose landing gear bay. Making the best use of modern, high-tech materials, the A350 XWB nose section is made of 40 per cent composites, 55 per cent aluminum/aluminum-lithium and five per cent titanium. Once assembled and equipped, the nose section will be joined to the forward fuselage (made and equipped in Hamburg) to form together the A350 XWB front fuselage. Conceived from the outset to become a comprehensive airliner Family, the A350 XWB (extra wide-body) will be available in three basic passenger versions, flying up to 350 passengers on a range of more than 15,750 km / 8,500 nm. With a range of up to 8,300nm / 15,380km, the family will include the A350-800 for 270 passengers in a spacious three-class configuration. The latest innovations in terms of advanced technologies will be incorporated in the airliner Family, including all-new, easy-to-maintain, and much lighter Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) paneled fuselage skins. Furthermore it is designed to confront the challenges of high fuel prices, rising passenger expectations, and environmental concerns in that market segment.
