3D MEADS

MEADS - Medium Extended Air Defence System - The ground-based lower-tier MEADS (Medium Extended Air Defence System) for protection of forces in out-of-area operations and site defence in the scope of homeland defence copes with the entire threat scenario from fighter aircraft to cruise missiles, as well as tactical ballistic missiles. The MEADS programme is being managed by MEADS International Inc., a joint venture of euroMEADS (MBDA and Lockheed Martin). MBDA contributes considerably to the overall system design and the necessary PAC-3 modification. In addition the company is directly responsible for developing HW and SW subsystems for essential elements, such as for the control and weapon engagement system, the fire control radar and the launcher.
