Tornado RECCE

Thirty-seven Tornados of the German air force, fitted with an external reconnaissance pod, are being used as RECCE (tactical reconnaissance) Tornados. They are capable of day and night operations under all weather conditions. The RECCE-pod has been designed for compatibility with all modern bombers. It incorporates two Zeiss KS153A optical cameras, a Honeywell infrared line scanner, the Honeywell Recce Management System, and an Amex digital data recorder. Because of the modular design of the pod, modernization is possible at any time.
