Designed for modern multi-mission capabilities and cost effectiveness throughout its lifecycle, the NH90 has been developed as a multi-role helicopter for both tactical transport (TTH) and naval (NFH) applications.
Airbus brings together the very latest in aerodynamics, design and advanced technologies in the A350 XWB to provide a 25 per cent step-change in fuel efficiency compared to its current long-range competitor. Contributing to this performance are the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines that power the A350 XWB family.
CEO of Airbus and CEO of Malasya Airlines at delivery of MAS’s first A380
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has taken delivery of its first A380, becoming the eighth operator of the world’s largest and most eco-efficient airliner. The aircraft was handed over to MAS Group Chief Executive Officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya by Airbus Chief Operating Officer Fabrice Brégier in Toulouse on 29 May 2012.
The 74,000 square-metre A350 XWB Final Assembly Line (FAL), in Toulouse will employ some 1,500 people who will build up to ten aircraft a month at full production as from 2018.
Sharklets, which have been specially designed for the Airbus A320 Family, will reduce fuel burn by up to 3.5 percent, giving an annual CO2 reduction of around 700 tonnes per aircraft.
On February 12th 2012 Eurocopter unveiled the EC130 T2, which features enhanced comfort, improved operational performance and increased versatility for this popular member of the company’s lightweight single-engine product line. The EC130 T2 was revealed during a ceremony at the 2012 Heli-Expo exhibition in Dallas, Texas.
Thai Airways International (THAI) has taken delivery of its first A380, becoming the ninth airline to operate the world’s largest and most eco-efficient airliner. The aircraft was handed over to Captain Montree Jumrieng, Executive Vice President Technical, THAI, by Kiran Rao, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Airbus, at a special ceremony in Toulouse on 27 September 2012.
The Tiger is a medium-weight, air-to-air combat and fire-support helicopter, with twin engines. It has been deployed in Afghanistan by the French Armed Forces since 2009, with three helicopters permanently on site.
Conceived from the outset to become a comprehensive airliner Family, the A350 XWB (extra wide-body) will be available in three basic passenger versions, flying up to 350 passengers on a range of more than 15,750 km / 8,500 nm. With a range of up to 8,300nm / 15,380km, the family will include the A350-800 for 270 passengers in a spacious three-class configuration.The latest innovations in terms of advanced technologies will be incorporated in the airliner Family, including all-new, easy-to-maintain, and much lighter Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) paneled fuselage skins. Furthermore it is designed to confront the challenges of high fuel prices, rising passenger expectations, and environmental concerns in that market segment.

Lanceur en ZL - Vol 189 - Le 30/06/2009 Ariane 5 symbolises a major key for Europe’s unrestricted, independent access to space. EADS Astrium is the key to this success. Its experience dates back to the beginnings of the European space industry, with the Diamant and early Ariane launchers. The new-generation Ariane 5 continues the tradition of its famous predecessors, Ariane 1 to 4, but features a radically new design. Since 2005, the latest heavy-lift version of Ariane 5 has provided increased Geostationnary Transfer Orbit payload capacity, up to 10 tonnes on dual launches, to meet the evolving demands of both commercial and institutional markets. It incorporates a new cryogenic upper stage carrying over 14 tonnes of propellants, and a strengthened cryogenic main stage, powered by the new Vulcain 2 engine.

Eutelsat 70B is a telecommunication satellite. Astrium is prime contractor in charge of overall programme management and the design and build of the communications payload. Antrix, the commercial arm of ISRO, supplies the satellite bus, based on the flight proven I3K model, and is in charge of the integration and test of the spacecraft.

Galileo is the new European satellite navigation system comprising a global satellite-based network for precise positioning and timing information. It will offer many levels of service to satisfy all user requirements (commercial, safety and security, science, leisure), and will deliver guaranteed and certified quality and integrity for safety-critical applications (civil aviation, emergency services, security applications). Consisting of 30 spacecraft in Medium Earth Orbit and associated ground infrastructure, the system will be gradually built up over the next years. EADS Astrium is playing a major role in the design and development of Galileo since the beginning of the programme and has significantly contributed to it with its comprehensive set of competencies in the field of satellite navigation and large-scale space programmes.

The weather satellite MetOp (Meteorological operational polar satellite) was developed by a consortium of European industrial enterprise under guidance of main contractor Astrium. MetOp provides data for medium-term weather forecasts and long-term climate and environmental research. MetOp-A, the first member of a new family of three European satellites designed to monitor the atmosphere from Low Earth Orbit, was launched from Kazakhstan on 19 October 2006. The next two MetOp satellites will be launched at five-year intervals. In total, the programme will be operational for at least 14 years, each satellite having an expected lifetime of five years. Astrium take the total responsibility for the final integration and preparation of starting the three MetOp satellites.

Under the Skynet 5 Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract signed in October 2003 and extended in March 2010, the UK MOD is procuring satellite communications services from the Astrium subsidiary Paradigm Secure Communications up to at least 2022. Paradigm Secure Communications awarded EADS Astrium the contract for supply of the Skynet 5 next-generation military satellite communications system. EADS Astrium is prime contractor to Paradigm for the design and build of the complete Skynet 5 system. This comprises four Skynet 5 spacecraft as well as a major upgrade of the fixed terrestrial infrastructure, networks and management systems in the UK and provision of over 160 satellite communications terminals. Skynet 5A was launched in March 2007, 5B in November 2007, and 5C in June 2008. Skynet 5D is under production.

The satellites of the Spot Series are optical earth observation satellites. The Spot Series is based on multi-purpose satellite platforms, which was developed for the French Space Agency CNES. These were also used for other European earth observation satellites such as for ERS-1 and ERS-2, Envisat and Metop and the military observation satellites Helios.

Thanks to a wingspan larger than most commercial airliners, endurance of more than 30 hours and a maximum altitude of approximately 60,000 feet, the EURO HAWK® unmanned aircraft system is an interoperable, modular and cost-effective replacement to the fleet of manned Breguet Atlantic aircraft which was in service since 1972 and retired in 2010. Based on the RQ-4B Global Hawk HALE UAS, the EURO HAWK®system includes a ground station consisting of a mission control and launch and recovery elements provided by Northrop Grumman. Cassidian System Design Centre: Throughout the whole system engineering lifecycle, the System Design Centre works with customers and other EADS units on defence and security solutions like: urban and peace-keeping operations; protection of borders, critical, infrastructure, large events; net-centric operations in the battlefield; intelligence; maritime and airspace surveillance; and air traffic management. Risk mitigation, technology capitalisation and a system-of-systems “integrated project team” working approach are key success factors offered by the System Design Centre. Thanks to the System Design Centre's operational experts, system engineering skills, methods and tools, it is possible to set up, test and evaluate security systems in various scenarios before they are actually used.

The EC725 is a powerful and fast helicopter with long range capabilities - powered by 2 Turbomeca Makila 2A turboshaft engines. It has a very large useful volume and accommodates various seating arrangements up to 29 troops in a spacious cabin and 2 crew members. Typical missions are: troop transport, MEDEVAC - up to 12 stretchers and 4 attendant seats - and naval mission system. An important amount of available qualified mission equipment and installations can be fitted on EC725 to be customized to any specific SAR and CSAR mission requirement. The twin-engined, 11 tons class helicopter is designed for day and night and adverse weather operations and fulfils the stringent NATO requirements to face up to the military scenario of the next decades. It has been sized and conceived to be able to operate from any type of prepared or unprepared surfaces and to satisfy already in its basic design the entire specific feature requested by tactical transport requirements. Among others:, EMI/EMC qualification, intrinsic capability to take off and land by day and night in extreme adverse weather conditions, performing NOE - Nap of the Earth - flight, beyond the FEBA - Forward Edge of the Battle Area -, together with high availability, low maintenance effort required and flight line maintenance up to the 3rd level. It is developed by NH Industry - 62,5% Eurocopter, 5,5% Fokker and 32% Agusta. There are two different versions of the NH90: The NH90 NFH is primarily conceived for autonomous Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti Surface Unit Warfare and the NH90 TTH version - here - is conceived for tactical transport of personnel - up to 20 troops - and cargo transport of up to 2,500kg, Heliborne operations and search and rescue. The TTH has the highest flexibility and versatility to be easily and rapidly configurable for the other roles that can be required, namely SAR and CSAR, Heliborne Operations, MEDEVAC/CASEVAC, Electronic Warfare, Airborne Command Post, VIP Transport.

The Tiger is an air-to-air combat and fire support medium-weight - 6 tonnes - helicopter fitted with 2 MTR 390 engines. It is daytime and night combat capable and is operable in NBC environments. Three basic parameters were taken into account right from the start of the development phase: low -visual, radar and infrared -detectability, which provides excellent survivability on the battlefield, maximum efficiency of the weapons and the associated fire control systems without heavier workload for the crew, and an optimized logistic concept offering minimum possession costs. The Tiger ARH is fitted with a 30-mm gun turret; 68-mm submunition rockets, and air-to-air Mistral missiles. It also features a firing sight with 3 sensors: infrared, TV camera and direct optical channel. The complete avionics suite includes multi-purpose colour displays and radar/laser warning receivers. The integrated logistic system enables to drastically reduce the extend of maintenance work per flight hour, and keep the life cycle costs down. There are 3 versions: the Tiger UHT - Germany -, the Tiger HAP - France - and the Tiger ARH for Australia.
