1983 and 1987 marked the beginning of a unique partnership between two of EADS’ predecessors - Matra and Aerospatiale - and Stade Toulousain.

Team spirit, commitment, loyalty, determination and a taste for challenge are values which unite EADS and Stade Toulousain. The rugby club represents the south-west region of France, with its welcoming family spirit and festive atmosphere. As the region’s largest source of employment, EADS also demonstrates its interest in local society and its commitment to contributing towards its balance.

Indeed, several EADS entities in the Toulouse area are involved in the partnership: Airbus, Astrium, ATR (which transports the team during the season), Airbus CIMPA and EADS Shared Services.

The culture of collective success underpinning the alliance enables each partner to rise to their respective challenges, as demonstrated by Stade Toulousain’s many victories.

EADS has been the Cardiff Blues' principal sponsor since the 2008/2009 season.

As a leading employer in the region, EADS decided to join forces with one of the more popular teams of the national sport of Wales. Indeed, Cardiff Blues are an important part of community life in the capital city and the wider region. The Rugby Club plays at the Cardiff City Stadium, which is, after its extension in 2009, the second biggest stadium in Wales.

Welcoming the news of the partnership, First Minister Rhodri Morgan said: "I strongly welcome the announcement of a new relationship bringing together two areas in which I have a very active and passionate interest - our developing knowledge-led economy and our national sport”.
