EADS North America offers a broad range of advanced solutions to its customers in the commercial, homeland security, aerospace and defense markets. EADS’ business units, operating companies and divisions are found in 29 locations across 15 states.
As a leading supplier and industrial partner in defense and homeland security, EADS North America and its parent company, EADS, contribute over $13 billion annually to the U.S. economy while supporting more than 220,000 American jobs.
The company is a major contractor for the U.S. Army, having been chosen to supply the service’s UH-72A Lakota Light Utility Helicopter. Under terms of a contract awarded in June 2006, EADS North America is delivering a planned 345 aircraft with a potential total program life-cycle value of over $2 billion.
The U.S. Navy also selected the Light Utility Helicopter as the rotary-wing aircraft for its Navy Test Pilot School, which received a total of five H-72A versions. As of March 2012, 200 aircraft had been delivered to the U.S. Defense Department for operation by Army and Army National Guard units, as well as the Navy – all on time and on budget.
In addition, EADS North America is prime contractor for the Coast Guard’s procurement of up to 36 HC-144A Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft for maritime patrol and support missions, and the company is supplying shipboard multimode acquisition radars for the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship and the Coast Guard's National Security Cutter.
The company’s presence in the U.S. defense and homeland security sectors is growing. EADS has supplied more than 100 Eurocopter H-65 helicopters to the Coast Guard for homeland security missions, and EADS North America’s American Eurocopter subsidiary supported the performance upgrades for this entire fleet to the H-65C configuration.
In commercial aviation, EADS also has a significant U.S. presence, with American Eurocopter as a leading supplier of civil helicopters; and Airbus as a key supplier of commercial jetliners to airlines, leasing companies and VIP operators. More than 3,000 Eurocopter rotary-wing aircraft have been provided to operators that include the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. Over 3,200 Airbus aircraft have been ordered by more than 30 different North American customers, with over 2,200 delivered.
For the production of its jetliners, Airbus buys more parts, components, tooling and other material from the United States than any other country. Workers in 40 states help build Airbus aircraft, supporting 210,000 high-quality manufacturing jobs across the U.S.
