Located near Madrid Barajas Airport, the site boasts the most advanced facilities, in grounds of more than 27,000 m2. Experience gained over the past 40 years has turned it into a European centre of excellence in composites for space applications. It specialises in systems and is a prime contractor for the development and construction of satellites, payloads and on-board instruments.
Structural, thermal, antenna and wiring subsystems for satellites (including ESA), launchers (Ariane 5, Soyuz and Vega) and the International Space Station are also produced at this site, home of the leading Spanish space company.
Airbus Military
Airbus Military is the only military and civic/humanitarian transport aircraft manufacturer to develop, produce, sell and provide support and services for a comprehensive family of airlifters with a payload range of three to 45 tonnes. An Airbus subsidiary, Airbus Military is responsible for the A400M programme, the A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) and further military derivatives based on Airbus civil aircraft. These, together with the smaller 'Light & Medium' C295, CN235 and C212, make Airbus Military the global leader in the market for military transport, tanker and surveillance aircraft capable of performing the most varied types of missions. Altogether, Airbus Military has sold more than 1,000 aircraft to nearly 138 military, civil and governmental customers. More than 800 of these aircraft have been delivered. Airbus is an EADS company.
Headquartered in Madrid (Spain), the company’s facilities are essentially based in Spain. Its main sites are Getafe, close to Madrid, where the civil Airbus platforms, such as the A330, are converted into Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft, and Seville, where the San Pablo factory, south of the airport, hosts the A400M Final Assembly Line opened in 2007, as well as the complete production and final assembly of the C212, CN235 and C295 aircraft. Opened in 2010, the all new Airbus Military Training Centre is also located close to the San Pablo facility.
Airbus Military also has facilities in other European countries. The A400M Programme is based in Toulouse, France, with production of the major subassembly sections produced in Filton, (UK), Bremen (Germany), Nantes and St Nazaire in France, with other parts produced in Belgium as well as Turkey and Malaysia. Airbus Military also owns two facilities in Poland, one in Warsaw and one in Mielec, where the Orlik TCII is developed and produced.
