Airbus has a major presence in the North American market, with its family of jetliners becoming the aircraft of choice for all types of airlines in both the U.S. and Canada – from major carriers and cargo airlines to the new generation of low-cost operators. Through April 2012, more than 3,200 Airbus aircraft have been ordered by North American customers, and over 2,200 deliveries have been made in this marketplace.

Airbus Americas’ activity is headquartered in Herndon, Virginia near Washington, D.C. and the company’s 24-hour spares center also is in Virginia, at Ashburn. The Airbus Americas Engineering design center in Wichita, Kansas works on programs that include the A380, while the Mobile, Alabama engineering facility is responsible for various interior elements of Airbus' newest aircraft, the A350 XWB.

The company’s southernmost U.S. site is the $50-million Airbus Training Center in Miami, which houses a full range of full-flight simulators, trainers and computer-based training programs. Airbus Americas' U.S. footprint will be expanded with a new A320 Family production facility in Mobile, which will build A319, A320 and A321 jetliners beginning in 2015.

The responsibilities of Airbus Military North America, an EADS North America Company, include commercial sales, support activities and services in the North American market. In particular, Airbus Military North America provides support to C212s and CN235s used in the region for government missions and cargo/air freight services.

Airbus Military North America’s headquarters is located in Washington, D.C., co-located with the headquarters of the EADS North America. Support operations for Airbus Military North America – which include training and spares – are located at Mobile, Alabama, strategically positioning it to support the U.S. Coast Guard’s phase-in of the HC-144A (a version of the CN235) as its new maritime patrol aircraft.

The Mobile facility was expanded in October 2009 to become Airbus Military North America’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Delivery Center. This 30,000 square-foot facility provides North American operators of the C212 and CN235 tactical transports with the capabilities of a certified FAA Repair Station, as well as direct support from the aircraft manufacturer.
