Airbus - Final Assembly Line
Airbus’ first U.S.-based production facility is being built at the Brookley Aeroplex in Mobile, Alabama, for the final assembly of A319s, A320s and A321s. Construction officially began on the facility in April 2013 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by Airbus and EADS executives, dignitaries, members of the Gulf Coast community and more. Aircraft assembly is planned to begin in 2015 and, at full capability, the site will produce four aircraft per month while employing as many as 1,000 high-skill workers at the assembly line and associated facilities. The decision to create this new Mobile assembly line supports Airbus’ commitment to meeting demands of airlines around the globe for modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, as well as the company’s strategy of increasing its global industrial footprint.
