The new approach is called 'Push the Button' and it introduces more speed and efficiency in a process that can be crucial for the cost, lead-time and ramp-up targets of aircraft programmes.
Airbus' target is to instantaneously release all drawings for the cabin and customised parts once an airline customer determines how the aircraft’s interior will look. This will be accomplished by generating and compiling all documents needed to build the aircraft to the customer’s specification, immediately after the cabin’s definition phase is completed.
In addition, Airbus is planning a modular approach to cabin design that allows a maximum number of interior layout possibilities with a minimum number of module choices.
Did you know…?
As a result of the 'Push the Button' approach, lead-times from cabin definition are expected to be reduced from a typical seven months to approximately two-and-a-half months.
