Automotive industry outreach begins for EADS Technology Licensing

21 February 2013

The EADS Technology Licensing initiative’s new marketing outreach to the automotive and surface transportation sector kicks off this month with a North American visit that includes a high-profile presence at key events in both Canada and the United States.

This week-long multi-city tour begins February 25 and brings members of the EADS Technology Licensing initiative – along with managers from EADS’ Innovation Works research and technology arm – in contact with leading Canadian manufacturers, institutes and universities, as well as executives from the U.S. automotive industry and manufacturers from Germany and Japan.

“The EADS patent portfolio offers many technologies for the automotive and surface transportation sector’s priorities, starting with improving production and manufacturing processes, and also encompassing reliability and safety, training and reducing the total cost of ownership,” said Wulf Hoeflich, Head of the EADS Technology Licensing initiative.

Hoeflich noted that while this industrial sector traditionally looked to innovation in terms of boosting production output, suppliers are now seeking new ways to make cars and vehicles increasingly eco-friendly and more electric – which can be addressed by many EADS technologies available for licensing.

In addition to the upcoming tour’s technical exchanges and briefings in several Canadian cities, the EADS team has planned a high-profile presence at the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) regional conference in Windsor, Ontario, where the EADS Technology Licensing initiative will have a large exhibit.

Other activities during the week include EADS’ participation in a workshop that brings Canadian manufacturers together with German industry representatives, and attendance at the annual Canada-U.S. Automotive Dinner in Dearborn, Michigan – for which EADS is a co-sponsor.

The North American tour has been arranged with the support of the Canadian embassy in Germany, and assisted by the APMA.
