Airbus site in Toulouse is home to teams from four centres of excellence involved in the design, manufacture and integration of pylons and nacelles, nose and centre fuselage, cabin and cargo customisation and aircraft electrics.
The Toulouse-based CoE pylons and nacelles is responsible for delivering equipped and tested pylons to the final assembly lines in Toulouse and Hamburg. Its main activities include the design of pylon and propulsion system integration, the manufacture of pylon and nacelle components, as well as pylon sub-assembly and integration for all Airbus aircraft. Toulouse is one of the four Airbus sites in France that form the CoE nose and centre fuselage. The main activities of this CoE are the design and manufacture of nose and centre fuselage components. Toulouse’s responsibility is mainly in engineering and procurement.
Working closely with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, Toulouse-based teams in the CoE cabin and cargo customisation work on customer definition of the cabin. As well as cabin design responsibilities, Airbus headquarters in Toulouse features a cabin mock-up centre that allows customers to see some of the innovative possibilities available on Airbus aircraft. Toulouse, together with sites in Filton in the UK and Hamburg in Germany, also forms part of the CoE Electrics that is collectively responsible for definition, electrical pre-design, design, installation design and installation of electrical harnesses, avionic racks, power centres and cockpit panels.
